News: Diners, Drive-ins and Dude Jewelry

In today’s “who knew?” news, it seems there’s an unexpected jewelry enthusiast among the Food Network ranks. Guy Fieri, probably best known as the host of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, has his own men’s jewelry line.

Fieri’s line by Room 101, available here, includes a dog tag, bracelet, and the cufflinks shown above.

Here’s a roundup of other jewelry news:

Wedding Jewelry Wednesday: Rose Gold Engagement Rings

Rose gold jewelry has been extremely popular recently, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s hard to deny the appeal of this metal’s rosy, romantic tone.

Fun fact: Rose gold is made by increasing the copper alloys in the metal, hence the pinkish hue.

The elegant metal is being used to making some extremely beautiful engagement rings. Here are a few blush-colored metal rings for blushing brides-to-be.

1. If you like rose gold but don’t want to pick a ring made entirely from it, a two-toned ring is a great option. This engagement ring setting from Amazon features both white and rose gold.

2. You’ll often find rose gold rings that feature a morganite center stone, like this one from Zales. The stones’ pinkish tones, along with the rose gold, make for a truly feminine ring.

3. Rose gold as a ring material often goes very well with vintage-inspired designs, too. This ring from Kate Szabone has a gorgeous petal motif.

4. For me, an engagement ring design gets extra points if it has interesting design details when viewed from the side. This rose gold one from Sears doesn’t disappoint, with a beautiful pattern on the band.

5. This rose gold infinity knot ring from Gemvara is perfect for a bride-to-be with simple yet sophisticated style. I love the symbolism of the intertwined “ropes” on the band.

6. Rose gold may be popular, but rose gold engagement rings are still a unique choice when compared with all of the white gold and yellow gold options. For an even more unique look, you can get one with a colored gemstone. This aquamarine ring is by mastergoldcraft.

Six Picks: Garnets for January

“By her who in this month (January) is born
No gem save garnets should be worn;
They will ensure her constancy,
True friendship, and fidelity.”
via here

I’m not a January baby, but I have to admit I have a soft spot for this month’s birthstone. There’s something very regal about garnets’ deep brownish-red tones.

Fun fact: The word “garnet” is derived from the Middle English word gernet, which means “dark red.” Makes sense. Thanks again, Wikipedia. Anyway, on to the roundup of my favorite garnet baubles for the month.

1. Speaking of regal, this rose-cut garnet ring from jorgensenstudio has that look covered. I just can’t get over how beautiful the clover-and-heart crown setting looks with the garnet stone.

2. I have a garnet locket that’s similar in style to this one from Amazon. The elegant filigree and marcasite accents make it look a lot more expensive than it is.

3. One of the things I love the most about garnets is how versatile they are. These faceted drop earrings by KahiliCreations would look great with a dress for special occasions or jeans for everyday wear.

4. Here’s an antique-inspired necklace (by CocosGreenhouse) with just a touch of garnet. The love letter motif (it really opens!) would make it a great gift for that special January-born someone. Hint hint significant others.

5. I love halo-style rings, so that’s probably why this garnet bracelet from Overstock caught my eye. This piece would definitely be the highlight of an outfit.

6. Briolette necklaces are so sophisticated, and this garnet three-stone necklace from fineheart is no exception. Garnets look great against the gold-toned metal.
